Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the SSSTS course last?

The SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) course lasts for 2 days. We offer Weekday and Weekend, online or classroom courses to make sure we can accommodate your needs.

Why the SSSTS course?

The SSSTS course is essential for those in supervisory roles within the construction industry. It provides a strong foundation in health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and legal responsibilities to ensure site safety and compliance. The course is recognised by CITB and is often a requirement for those looking to take on supervisory responsibilities. Completing SSSTS enhances your career prospects, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage teams, reduce workplace risks, and create a safer working environment.

Who is the SSSTS course for?

The SSSTS course is designed for those currently working as site supervisors or looking to step into a supervisory role within the construction industry. It’s particularly suited for individuals responsible for overseeing teams and ensuring workplace safety standards are met. Many employers now require supervisors to hold an SSSTS qualification, making it a valuable credential for career progression. Whether you're new to site supervision or have experience but need formal certification, this course provides essential knowledge on health and safety regulations, risk management, and leadership responsibilities.

What topics are covered in the SSSTS course?

The SSSTS course covers a range of essential topics to help site supervisors manage health and safety on construction sites. Key areas include legal responsibilities, health and safety laws, risk assessments, method statements, accident prevention, and reporting procedures. The course also focuses on effective site supervision, behavioral safety, environmental awareness, and best practices for maintaining a safe working environment. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of how to oversee teams safely and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

What happens if I fail the SSSTS assessment?

If you do not pass the SSSTS exam but achieve the minimum threshold for a resit, you will be eligible for a free resit of the exam rather than having to retake the entire course. This gives you another opportunity to demonstrate your understanding without the need to sit through the full two-day training again. However, if your score falls below the resit threshold, you may need to retake the entire course. Our team will provide guidance on your next steps and offer support to help you succeed.

How long does the SSSTS certificate last?

The SSSTS certificate is valid for five years from the date of completion. To maintain your qualification, you must complete an SSSTS Refresher course before your certificate expires. If your certification lapses, you will need to take the full SSSTS course again. It’s recommended to schedule your refresher course in advance to ensure you remain compliant with industry requirements.
